5 Tips to Take Care of My Skin After Laser Hair Removal Treatment

While you should avoid direct sunlight for two weeks prior to laser hair removal, it’s equally important to use sunscreen afterward as your skin may be more vulnerable than usual to UV rays and could suffer severe burns from prolonged sun exposure.

With the right product and good habits in place, smooth skin can remain hair-free for years to come.

1. Moisturize

Moisturizer is one of the best ways to take care of your skin after laser hair removal treatment, helping reduce inflammation and promote faster healing time and return to its regular appearance. When selecting your moisturizer products it should be gentle and fragrance free as using harsher formulations may irritate and worsen skin issues post laser hair removal treatment.

After laser hair removal treatments, aloe vera-based lotions tend to be the ideal way to moisturize skin post-treatments, according to Beauty USA. Their natural ingredient hyaluronic acid helps hydrate skin cells and relieve dryness; additionally it works wonders at reducing redness and swelling caused by laser treatments.

After laser hair removal, another way to hydrate skin after laser therapy is using cool water or applying an ice pack over the area being treated. Not only will this soothe skin irritations and inflammation associated with laser treatment sessions, but it will also reduce pain and inflammation associated with them.

Exfoliate the area where you had laser hair removal to soothe it after its completion and speed up shedding of the damaged follicles – usually two to four weeks later. Do this several times weekly until all follicles have shed.

Be sure to shower before your appointment and clean your area thoroughly – moisturizers, creams and oils can prevent the laser from reaching the root of your hairs while sweat or other debris may prevent its access.

2. Avoid Heat

After receiving laser hair removal treatment, it’s essential to avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and the sun in order to avoid burning or blistering of the treated areas. This helps ensure optimal outcomes.

After treatment, it may also be beneficial to apply a cooling aloe vera lotion or gel, which can soothe any burning sensations and redness on your skin. To reduce risk of infection and avoid scratching or picking, avoid scratching at itching spots by not scratching or picking.

Your treated area of skin may scab over for several days after laser hair removal treatment, which is completely normal and should not be picked at or pulled off with force; doing this could result in scarring and diminish the effectiveness of laser hair removal sessions. Instead, patting it with a clean cloth gently is recommended to loosen any scabs that have formed.

Deodorant should also be applied after your laser hair removal session at LH Spa & Rejuvenation for several hours post-treatment, to avoid irritating sensitive skin that has been treated by laser. If necessary, applying it beforehand would be advised.

After your laser hair removal treatment, it is also advisable to avoid direct sunlight for at least several weeks in order to protect your skin from the damaging effects of UV rays. This is especially important if the treatment was conducted on your facial area as direct sunlight can increase risk of skin cancer. If necessary, ensure you apply an SPF sunscreen with at least 30 SPF protection when heading outside.

3. Don’t Scratch or Pick at Your Skin

After laser hair removal, you may experience itching that may need soothing with cooling skin creams and lotions to ease itchy spots. Instead of scratching to relieve this discomfort, use cooling skin products instead; any other methods of hair removal (waxing, plucking) may disrupt hair follicles and diminish results.

As soon as you’ve received laser hair removal treatment, it is also wise to refrain from applying topical beauty products like makeup, perfume and body lotion to the area where it was administered. These items often contain harsh chemicals which could irritate sensitive skin – your Tulsa dermatologist will provide guidance as to when you can resume using them again.

After your laser hair removal treatment, it is wise to remain out of direct sunlight as much as possible. Exposure can irritate skin cells and lead to redness, swelling and hyperpigmentation if exposed for too long. When venturing outdoors be sure to wear sunscreen with at least 30 SPF and cover treated areas if necessary with clothing.

After laser hair removal, it is wise to avoid hot showers, saunas and jacuzzis as their heat may irritate the skin and lead to burning or blistering. Instead, cool showers and cooling skin cream/lotion may help ease discomfort or pain.

Remember, hair removal takes time. In the meantime, your skin may be more vulnerable and tanning may increase sensitivity; therefore, before considering laser hair removal in Tulsa it’s wise to consult a dermatologist about the process and care needs.

4. Don’t Exfoliate

Following laser hair removal, it is wise to avoid exfoliating the treatment area as this could cause irritation and make it more difficult for dead hairs to shed naturally.

Once a laser hair removal session, exfoliating is recommended within 24 hours to the skin. After that initial period has elapsed, regular exfoliation should take place using either loofahs, puffy shower sponges, soft wash cloths, loofas or soft loofahs for gentle circular brushing of skin or gentle facial cleansers such as glycolic acid or retinol-containing cleaners to provide gentle exfoliation of face skin.

Plucking or waxing hairs is advised, as this will alter their growth cycle and nullify any benefits gained through laser treatments. Furthermore, you should wait several weeks after treatment with lasers before shaving any areas that were treated with them – shaving may irritate skin and result in ingrown hairs which can be extremely painful!

After you complete a course of laser hair removal, chances are there won’t be much or any regrowth – or it will likely be soft and fine. If any unwanted hairs do reappear, light maintenance solutions like tweezing and depilatory creams could provide effective removal methods.

While laser hair removal is a permanent procedure, it’s still essential to take great care in taking good care of your skin after each session. Follow these guidelines and you will help your complexion remain healthy during treatment sessions. 5. Avoid Sunlight

Before and after laser hair removal sessions, it is advised to not sunbathe or tan the skin, due to UV rays being particularly vulnerable on skin that is vulnerable to UV exposure – this can result in burns that can take an extended timeframe to heal properly.

After your laser hair removal treatment, it is wise to avoid artificial UV sources like tanning beds for at least two weeks afterward. Once outdoors again, be sure to wear protective clothing such as hats or scarves when venturing outdoors – always using sunscreen with an SPF rating of 30 or greater and using sunblock on any exposed areas such as lips.

Also, try to limit sun-related activities, like swimming in an ocean or pool. Not only will this cause discomfort to your skin, but it could lead to blisters. Without care these blisters could become scars that last permanently.

Scrubbing or picking at your skin during this period should also be avoided as this can intensify any side effects from laser hair removal treatments, like itching. Scratching and picking may also lead to infections which will prolong healing processes and put off scheduling another laser hair removal appointment.

Care should also be taken when selecting cosmetic products such as deodorant, lotions, makeup and facial and body washes with acne fighting ingredients or anti-ageing properties. Instead, gentle products without these properties should be used until your skin has fully recovered following laser hair removal treatment.
