Laser hair removal is an efficient, noninvasive way to quickly reduce or permanently eliminate unwanted body hair. The treatment can permanently erase hair in its treatment areas for smooth, soft skin.

Schedule your treatments regularly in order to achieve permanent results.

During Your Consultation

Laser hair removal stands out as one of the more manageable cosmetic treatments, employing nothing more than light and heat to destroy hair follicles permanently. It’s an ideal solution for people who are tired of constantly shaving or waxing unwanted hair and wish for permanent relief from unwanted growth.

Though some patients can notice improvement after just one treatment session, for maximum effects most need six to eight sessions for maximum effects. You will begin to see less hair growing back each time until there is almost no regrowth at all!

To achieve optimal results, we advise scheduling the initial few treatment sessions 6 to 8 weeks apart. This gives us ample time to effectively target all your active growing hair follicles before they return with new growth cycles – eventually disabling most permanently and stopping further hair from growing back!

Each time, we conduct a treatment session, you’ll come into our office and sit comfortably while we activate the laser device. When activated, its concentrated beam will be directed directly onto the area you would like treated; its light will then pass briefly over it in order to treat multiple hairs simultaneously.

Before coming in for treatment, we advise shaving the area prior to your visit either the night before or the day of. This will allow us to identify all your hairs easily and ensure they’re in an active growth phase when we do the treatment. In addition, avoid plucking or waxing activities, as these could hinder its effectiveness.

Keep in mind that electrolysis-based hair removal treatments tend to work best with patients with lighter skin tones and darker hair, however with our Elite+ system we can now target hair even on darkened skin tones with lighter locks – leading to incredible results from patients previously considered untreatable by other providers.

During Treatment

Laser hair removal treatments vary in terms of frequency needed for each person, depending on how your follicles respond and develop at various rates. In order to be most effective, treatments must target unwanted hairs when they’re still in the new-growth stage and thus targeting most unwanted strands at their source.

Before receiving laser treatment, it is wise to avoid waxing, tweezing, or plucking your hairs as this removes pigment from the follicles that makes identifying them for treatment difficult for laser machines. Furthermore, staying out of the sun before sessions increases the chances of misreading skin color interpretation and ultimately laser burns.

At your laser hair-removal treatments, you will sit comfortably in a treatment chair as the laser machine sends pulses of energy into the skin to damage darker pigments found within each of your follicles, which will ultimately render them incapable of producing new hair growth. Over time and multiple laser hair removal sessions, this process will continue until no unwanted hairs remain.

After your first few laser hair removal treatments, the hairs that do grow back may appear much finer and thinner compared to before. This is good news: this indicates that your follicles are becoming increasingly incapable of producing new strands over time.

Once you have achieved smooth, hairless skin, you can enjoy it for years to come. In order to sustain these results, however, regular laser hair-removal treatments must be scheduled at regular intervals in order to maintain them.

At Spring Street Dermatology, our staff works with you to develop a tailored laser hair-removal plan that fits in seamlessly with both your growth cycle and goals for permanent hair reduction. Our team will then arrange treatments at times most convenient to you so they won’t disrupt your busy life!

After Treatment

Heat from the laser damages and destroys hair follicles, rendering them incapable of growing new hair follicles – leading to permanent reduction of facial hair over time, though often several sessions of treatment will be required for maximum efficacy.

Your number of sessions depends on your hair color, skin tone and body area. Laser treatments work most effectively when dark pigment absorbs light energy to be damaged without harming surrounding skin – hence their popularity among people with darker hair and lighter complexions; although the same procedure can also be used on all other tones.

Time between treatments also plays a factor when it comes to laser hair removal; hair follicles must swell slightly in order to be at their optimum point when they’re exposed to laser energy and damaged, making laser hair removal a long-term treatment rather than temporary fixes.

Laser hair removal offers a safer and more effective alternative to shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams for hair removal. Shaving can leave cuts or nicks while waxing can cause pain as well as cause rashes; both options require inconvenient time-consuming efforts that often don’t produce lasting results. Laser hair removal provides an efficient permanent solution for unwanted hair on the face, arms, legs, underarms, chest, bikini line or bikini zone – offering permanent removal that’s safe yet time-consuming while giving unwanted hair the boot from hiding!

Before your laser treatment begins, it is important to avoid plucking or waxing the area being treated and apply sunscreen with sunblock as your skin will be exposed to direct sunlight during the procedure. You should inform your laser technician if you have herpes, cold sores or are taking blood-thinning medication, such as aspirin.

As you relax during your treatment with laser heat targeting and destroying unwanted hair, you should notice an immediate difference in its thickness and appearance. After several treatments have taken place, you may also enjoy living a hair-free life, no longer needing to shave every morning and worry about waxing or depilatory cream rashes or pain!

Results

Laser hair removal can be life-altering for anyone living with unwanted hair, yet most individuals require multiple sessions before reaching their cosmetic goals. Each person’s hormone levels and hair growth cycles will determine how many sessions will be necessary to reach desired results; during your consultation we can help set realistic expectations of how many treatments will meet your individual requirements.

Before beginning laser hair removal treatment, it is crucial that any unwanted hair be left alone by plucking, waxing, or shaving it – these activities disrupt the follicle and prevent laser from targeting it effectively during treatment. It is also recommended to not shave immediately prior to treatment; doing so would disrupt its natural hair growth cycle and may impact its outcome; instead shaving should only occur 24 hours prior to your scheduled session or use of depilatory cream is advised.

At your treatment session, we will use a handheld device to deliver pulses of laser light that will penetrate into the area being treated and target pigment in hair follicles, which causes them to die and prevent further growth. Soon after your appointment, hair in the area starts falling out; during recovery period you should apply cold compresses and avoid direct sunlight exposure for best results.

After your initial series of laser hair removal appointments, it is common to require maintenance treatments every four weeks for several months following. We will continue targeting follicles as they move between their anagen (growing) and catagen (transitional) phases until such time that no new hair growth is produced by those same follicles.

After about one year of treatment with laser hair removal, you should start experiencing permanent results that last – typically just once or twice annually to maintain them – giving you smooth, beautiful skin without having to constantly worry about removing unwanted hair. Laser hair removal is safe for almost all skin types and areas of the body – from arms and legs, backside, chest etc.
