Mohs Surgery

Once complete, any surgical wounds that have resulted from removal are repaired before beginning reconstruction of new tumors or lesions.
Once Mohs surgery has taken place, it is crucial that you protect the surgical wound with a bandage or dressing. While your wound may feel sore or tender afterward, it should not cause severe pain; should this occur please reach out for medical assistance immediately. It may be wise to arrange transportation home from either yourself or someone else following postoperative swelling which obstructs vision and movement – making driving unsafe in itself.
Mohs surgery requires specific equipment in both the operating room and laboratory where tissues are processed for microscopic examination. A ventilated hood in the lab should help limit personnel exposure to chemicals used for staining while in the operating room a table, scalpels, fine forceps, scissors and disposable tray should be available to hold samples for evaluation.
